Smile Recommendations for lakes near Vancouver this fall

Howdy folks, I just got a belly boat and am thinking about trying some of the Lakes right near Vancouver. I've never been to most of the spots around the lower mainland, and feel like doing some exploring. I'm planning to try Sasamat, Bunzten and maybe Mike first, and then work my way east.

I have the Southern B.C. Fishing map book, and there seems to be quite a few spots that are easy day trips from Vancouver. Some spots that I want to check out are: Mike, Rolley, Mill, Coquitlam Lake reservor, Hayward, Wonnock, Devils, Sayres, Alouette and Hatzic. Does anyone have any other good trips, or would recommend particular lakes out of this list to hit first? Looking to do easy short day trips for the most part, and just get out to try a few of the spots right near Vancouver, even if that means sharing the water with a few other anglers and having no prospect of catching whoppers.

I was going to try using wet streamers (wolley bugger, doc spratley) and muddlers, and then maybe give the dry fly a try if those aren't producing. I also just picked up a few small green scud/shrimp patterns to try, as I have never fished those patterns before.

    Thanks,

    Bob

Bobert, a pretty good list of lakes there to try. Coquitlam reservoir is off limits (I drink from that water, and don't want you swimming in it), but the others all can produce. Allouette is pretty big for a belly boat (too hard to cover the water, to hard to get off it when it blows up). I have had good luck at Mike and Sayres.

Theres are 2 part series of books called "195 Lakes of the Fraser Valley", and if you're going to get into lake fishing from Wistler to Hope, this is a MUST have book.

Thanks for the book advice, I just ordered volume one: West Vancouver to Stave falls, from amazon.

Tried Mike Lake, it is a pretty nice spot. We braved 3 frigid hours in the float tube, and mine only deflated once! I got skunked but the girlfriend an 8" rainbow on a small blue dry fly. Found what I presume to be a huge dragonfly nymph shell casing on the the side... wow, it was huge! I think I need to tie something like that up.

Lafage Lake in Coquitlam is a nice small lake to get accustomed with your belly boat. Great just after stocking
