While at Sheridan earlier in October, a couple friends (who both fish the lake regularly) showed me a little olive micro leech that works quite well there and since I'm planning a trip back there next June I figured I had better invent a reasonable facsimile:
Recipe:
Hook: Diachii 1273 #14
Bead: 7/64th Black Tungsten
Body: Dark Olive Simi Seal mixed with dark olive rabbit cut from the strip and subtle amounts of red and green flash added.
Here's a size 12 micro mohair red and black with a few wine marabou tips.

Nice tie, Lucky!![]()
Do you tie all of your patterns with red diachii hooks? Or is it just certain patterns? I love the idea. While at Sheridan earlier in October, a couple friends (who both fish the lake regularly) showed me a little olive micro leech that works quite well there and since I'm planning a trip back there next June I figured I had better invent a reasonable facsimile:

It seems like that of late but no I don't tie a lot of patterns on red hooks. When I first introduced the "Wonder Bug" chironomid it was on a red hook and it actually worked better. That same year my black/red micro leech was also on a red Diachii and I wasn't even aware of the 1153 until two weeks ago so I've been tying up a storm on them.
There are a couple patterns only where I feel the red hooks are more productive. Bloodworms definitely, some leeches and a few chironomids but not everything.
Thanks. I see a point. Some black leeches also seem to have a redish tint. So it could make it look more natural. Thanks for the info. Im going to try that with my bloodworms for next season. It seems like that of late but no I don't tie a lot of patterns on red hooks.
