Default kokanee time again . and you know what that means.

kokanee time again ...while other lakes are winding down . i am getting ready for a full season of large cutts and ridiculous sized rainbows. as the kokanee stage in the creek mouths ,the large cutts are coming up from the summer time depths to feed and move around in there winter patterns. large flys are on the menu , in a array of patterns from kokanee and sticklebacks to leaches and sculpins . i will keep you all up to date on whats going on in cutthroat country .

Any kokanee showing up yet. I'm hopefully headed up Powell this weekend. Had some good fishing up there this time of the year with the kokanee hanging out at all the creek mouths. Only got a couple of weeks left up there though.
    Keep you all posted.

Dangit, I really wanna head to Powell River and catch a different species of fish for a change. All it's ever been for me is Rainbows, Rainbows, Rainbows, and Brookies, Brookies, Brookies. I've gotten one Steelies under my belt, but that was 8 years ago and not on the fly. Also a couple salmon yeeeeeears ago that I can't even remember. Time to get a reliable rig, build another rod, and explore...

so the other day i went out and seen some dead fish on the surface. the schools are down deep on the bottom, with some big fish mixed in . the creek mouths are hot as soon as we get some rain!?? its just way to bright and hot for them to be active during the day.
i am waiting to do some filming of some big cutts feeding over the next month.
if your headed up gimme a call . the rainbow fishing is heating up and the season is just starting.i think we will be able to fish the season through without any freeze over. high water means fish and its a hard thing to choose some times.....do i head to catch steelhead on the island ? or do i stay and fish cutts? what would you rather catch a 10 lb steelhead or a 10 lb cutthroat ?

I'm headed up powell tommorrow. Hopefully into some fish. I'm into heading up the other lakes for sure. Don't get a weekend off til november though. Hopefully things are going full swing by then. Definatly interested to do some fishing in november. I'll keep in touch.
I think a 10 pound anything is nice, but catching a trout that big in your own "backyard" is kinda cool. Not every fisherman has those kinda opportunities.
