Fred,
Did you hear how the seminar weekend went at Salmon Lake? Heard much more on the delayed boatman flights? It has traditionally happened by this time at Island. Leaving tomorrow morning for Sheridan. Yipppeeee!

Fishing Report for September 29th 2009
Here we go! The salmon are starting to spawn and the trout are eating eggs. This is fun fishing.
The Adams gave up a few for my buddy and I on Sunday. With a little poking around and leg work there are opportunities all around us.
Very simple with a few split shot or twist on lead and an egg fly or bead.
The fall Caddis have been hatching on the local lakes for a week or so now. This is your last kick at the cat for dry fly action on the lakes. Try a medium size dry caddis by the reeds or a pupae on a dry line.
As usual at this time of the year the pattern for fly fishing is not that important ( usually ) as the fish are looking to eat and fatten up for the winter. The staples are what you need to fish.
Scuds, leeches small dragons and damsels, and of course chironamids.
The brookies are getting coloured for the fall and are just gorgeous. Nice for a picture or two.
With snow at higher elevations the last couple of nights it looks like our lake fishing will be ending in the not too distant future.
We haven’t heard back from many as hunting is moving to the fore front at this time of year for a lot of folks.
Salmon was good with chironamids and pumpkinheads.
Take the kids fishing on the next sunny afternoon so you will have a good to talk about over the winter.

I was at the seminar this past weekend. Got alot of knowlege. The Saturday was hit and miss on the water because of the wind, boatmen, small red bloodworms and leeches produced. The Sunday...welll...it was non stop for the boats with pro's in them or those who were lucky enough to get flies from the pro's. Just one fish after another between them. Micro leeches in olive #14's, and larger balanced leech patterns(dark colors, black/brown /w flash) cast to the edges of weedbeds.
If someone is interested in taking the seminar next spring and wants a more in depth review on what they can expect, feel free to PM me.
