Default Floating running lines for use with shooting heads on my switch rod

I just broke a 4 wt. level line stretching it over my knee...might need to learn to be more gentle, but, I suspect a weakness. It has served as a running line for my shooting head system for single hand rods and most recently on my switch rod. What are others using for floating running lines and what breaking strength is the core? I suspect the 4 wt. I was using was 20 lbs., though I doubt I applied that much pressure. It was quite a few years old...maybe just her time.

I am using the Snowbee XS running line in Hi viz colour, it is 1.2mm in diameter with a core strength of 30lbs, it is described as a salmon/saltwater running line probably due to breaking strength and diameter, I believe a thinner running line is also available in this product line. I have been using this with a CND 7/8 skagit head and have been quite happy with its performance.

Thanx for the response, Hugh S. I wish I knew how thick the running line I have is... must be close to the 1.2 mm of the snowbee line. I'll have to look it up online.

Is the Frog Hair a floating running line... something else that I've never heard of? That sounds incredibly thin. I'll have to check it out.

it floats for the most part LOL sometimes i does sink a little but its thin so it cuts out of the water for the big shoots anyways. Im still trying to get used to having such a shorter belly to load my rod as i learned with a 55' belly, i can cast further already with this line but its just not as pretty nor as soft a presentation
