Hi All,

I am a newb over here but some may recognize me from over at BCFR.

I have more than my share of experience out on the chuck dragging gear around for all the wonderful fishies out there off the WCVI and local Vancouver waters. Having had a blast nailing coho's right on the surface offshore last summer with just a mooching rod dragging a real light weight I kinda got the "spark" in my head that I NEED to get some fly gear for this. Also to play around the kelp beds for salmon and my favourite table fare; Black Rockfish/Cod/Bass (everyone calls them something different )

The question I have for you guys/gals when you are dragging a line out there bucktailing.....do you have a "fighting butt" on your fly rods or do you just use a regular fly rod in the rod holder? I am thinking it may not hold in there? But also.....I may be completely clueless as to "how to bucktail".

I am looking around to gear up this fall and just trying to take many things into consideration.

I read Bead Head's thread on her Tofino adventure and I am dying to try it!

Thanks so much for any info y'all can provide!!

Cheers,

Scott
