Fishing Report for July 15th, 2009

We’re back!

The Thompson is fishing quite well. Dry flies and nymphs are both good. For dry flies, big and ugly is good, as well as smaller and imitative. Cast a Stimulator or the like up and across and dead drift it down the seams, then swing it in at the end of the drift and let it sit for a few seconds before you pick it up. Very exciting at times.

Egg Sucking Stones, Titanics and Rubber Leg Red Squirrel Nymphs dead drifted through likely runs are dynamite.

The Skagit is in great shape and fishing well. Try Green Drake dries and nymphs.

Leighton continues to produce with big chironamids.

Try Frog Flatfish in Harmon for a hard fighting rainbow.
Lead core lines seem to be the key for many folks getting down for good fishing right now all over. Marquart and Lundbom both give up a few good ones every day using this method.

The Thompson is also producing some Chinook. Remember to the check the regulations for opening dates and times.

Get out there and have some fun on, in or around the water. It is hot and a cool dip is very refreshing.

Funny thing though, every time I take my shirt off people keep saying “ Whale on the beach “ and pointing. I turn around and it is gone. Maybe next time I will see it.
