Hi All:
I will be heading up to Nile Creek for the pinks off the beach and was wondering if anyone in the area had an update? I have heard they are starting to show up at the mouths and high tide...

Thanks SalaR
i will be leaving this afternoon to get up there for high tide tonight. Reports from the fly shop in nile creek on the 21st had some risers in the evenings and said they are on the verge of coming in...
Looking forward to it! Todd
I'll post an update when i return
I was up the last night (23rd) and didnt see any fish. Really windy and too much chop to fish effectively. Nearly some half decent surf break with some of the bigger wavesHIgh tide was near 9pm.
Some of the older guys said they had seen some fish jumping, and by some, one or two.
Lots of cutties in the qualicum though. The weir is now up at the hatchery.
Yeah...the water was very rough last night...but rough water at nights can mean a good fish day ahead...yes ,went out this AM at 6AM ,just before high tide...Landed One Pink and 2 nice cutties...saw a few fish as others have said...but ,after a test fishery north of Vancouver Island yesterday the word is that we are going to be swamped with Pink Salmon very soon..
Guess what fly??

salaR wouldnt happen to be that fly you pushed on my folks.( thanks for that gotta love trade secrets)
Jake
well, that fly is somewhat of an audity, who would ever think a pink Handlebar with a small Florescent Yellow bead or thread head would attract much attention from Salmon off the beaches. It is even more deadly for Coho by the way!
Me thinks it has something to do with the Fl. Yellow head contrast with the Pink Body
This fish is from last August during the time that the pinks seemed to turn off!

I noticed that fly was very popular last year with the Nile Ck. crowd. I've tied up a few and they're part of the arsenal now.
Thank you for the report, its good to know there are some fish about. I've rented a spot in the area for 8 days in the second week of August so hopefully my timing will be good for lots of beach action.
At the slow rate the fish are coming in, the 2nd week of Aug should be absolutely prime for hitting the beach in that area. We were out yesterday scouting and didn't see a damn thing up this way (oyster/campbell).I noticed that fly was very popular last year with the Nile Ck. crowd.
