    Default Sunshine Coast/Texada/Powell River

    Hi there,

I am looking to do some salmon fishing along the sunshine coast up to powell river.

Just wondering if anyone has some tips on best time of year for what species and methods .....i hear mooching is the way to go off of texada.

thanks to anyone that can point me in the right direction.....maybe suggest a few spots i should try.

    THanks
    Mike

begining of august is when alot of the runs start to show up. lang creek has is a hatchery creek and because of big numbers/water lvls low the fish will hold out in the bay and a bay very close to it, this year coming up is a pink year so you can fish for those, coho's, springs, and chum. if you wanna be down rigging then i've been hearing about fish being caught at grants reef and vananda(texada)
    hope that helps

lang creek is in powell river. if you come off the ferry from saltery bay and drive intowards town you'll see a big dirt pull out for the hatchery and the rivers right there. i dont know much about sechelt/gibsons area but im sure there is a few good salmon runs there

We'll be there for a couple weeks starting in early August...will know
more after I've had a few days on the water.

But it should be a pink year -- and they're always fun a fly.
