    Default Roche Lake June 15-19

    Guys,
I am heading to Roche Lake area for the first time from Calgary. I plan to camp with a tent trailer and bringing small zodiac. Is there any restrictions for outboard motor size? Is an electric OK for Roche?
Any advice about the camping sites and where are the better sites? Are you camping right on the lake that allows me to keep my boat in the water?
How about the other lakes in the area either by boat or float tube?

Lots of questions and would like to hook up (no pun) with anyone who is in the area to fish or just kick back with a beer and tell lies.

    XCheers..BJ

What you need to know :

To access Roche Lake, follow the old Merritt Highway (5A) from Kamloops for 30 km to the south end of Shumway Lake. From here follow the Roche Lake Road east approximately 9 km to the Roche Lake West and Horseshoe Lake campsite turnoff (south). Continue on the Roche Lake Road for 2 km to access Roche Lake North campsite.

At Roche Lake Park there are 90 traditional and non-traditional style campsites. The campsites can accommodate camping units from a tent to a large recreational vehicle. Roche Lake North campsite is large and can accommodate large groups. Upon arrival choose a site and staff will be around later to collect camping fees and provide the option to purchase firewood.

There is no power or water at the campsite.
The operating season, with services, is generally from May 1st to Thanksgiving weekend, yet may vary slightly depending on weather conditions. The costs are $10.00/night and $5.00/night for BC Seniors during the shoulder season (following the day after Labour Day and prior to June 15th).
There are no gates at Roche Lake Provincial Park, therefore the Park is accessible 12 months per year, seven days a week and 24 hours per day. This is from BC Gov. parks and Rec. This is wherre Iwould stay. The East side of the lake has spots but they are not as nice. You could also stay at the campsite at Roche Lake resort for $30.00/night they will sometimes let you tie up on their dock otherwise I would take my boat out each night.

The South end of the lake is electric only other then that it is open I believe. I use an electric on my pram and it is fine but it is a good sized lake so if you want to motor around a bit a little gas outboard would be better on your Zodiac. Fishing has been good at Roche but vary your depth and fly to find the good fishing lanes. Roche is popular because it has a lot of fish and generally is a steady producer. The other lakes in the area (I do not know about Frisken I did not fish it this year) can provide some good fishing and a Tube would be fine to fish them with but they can vary a little more in terms of action.
