    Default Sheridan Lake B.C.

Hi boys, I was wondering what to use at Sheridan Lake. I have never been there before and i would like to be somewhat successful. I will be spending a week there starting June 4th. I was told you boys are the pro's on this topic.
Thanks in advance for any tips

Default Sheridan lake What to use ???

Presuming you are a flyfisher !!!!

What is coming off now are the following,***** Hot News Flash ****
Winter has been very long in the Cariboo even by locals standards....

Chronomids are just coming off, micro leeches, all colors, also by the time you are up there enjoying the nice weather, and great fishing, there should be some damsel fly action starting, also don't forget there is also an abundance of freshwater shrimp so lack of food for these feisty rainbows doesn't come into the equation.
Hope this helps(also ask the folks @ the Interlakes store for advice or further down the road @ Lone Butte sports they have always been a great help in the past:yeah:
    Cheers

    Thanks a ton

    Default Further Cariboo Lakes Condition

I went lake cruising this weekend around Willy's Puddle and west. All the smaller lakes I went to are turning over. The trout are in spawn mode.Another week should clear up the lakes. It`s been a long cold winter here so I suspect a few lakes winter-killed . Chronimids are coming off every where. We did get into fish on Till lake and Dugan. Olive green leeches were the flavour of the day on both lakes.

I don't think you'll find much for chironomid hatches as they are usually reserved for May/June at Sheridan. With that said don't count them out totally as there are often small hatches isolated to one bay or another and bloodworms are a fall time favourite but their migration may be a couple weeks after your trip. A big black rabbit strip leech works well there along with many different variations of Woolly Buggers, i.e. pumpkinhead.

I will be there October 1st and the plan is to fish leeches almost exclusively with a little variation thrown in. Doesn't coincide with your timing or mine for that matter but the gammarus shrimp move up onto the shoals en masse at the end of October and are soon followed by the large pig rainbows!

    thanks johnk,

i want to try the chronies as I haven't done it before but i keep hearing good things with them. There are usually a couple days in the week where I just don't want to be moving and trolling the drops (where i have found most of my success) so I thought I would try something new especially if it's windy as it tends to be sometimes on Sheridan.

i used to fish the south end by bear island and now am way up at the north end on loon bay. i have my leetches and woolys packed as well. If nothing works I have the froggy flatfish as backup as they always seem to like that one. Or if I really have to ...the boat with the sun flash is a proven winner there.

    thanks again.

Even if there's no chironomids you can still anchor up and fish chironomid style with leeches under the indicator. It is a deadly technique for Sheridan especially with maroon micro leeches.
