    Default chroni fishing

I have heard that when you are fishing chroni's that it is better to attach them to the end of your leader with a loop rather than a standard knot. If so what is the best loop knot to use? and why is this?

It's the "angle of the dangle"
hehehehe not the size of the hook

    I couldnt resist!

    But that's basically it.

I use the old clinch knot (not even the improved one) and dont find that the fish care. On a heavy hatch if the trout are gorging themselves, I've found that I get fish as my fly is sinking, or even just a few seconds after it touches down. Mind you I dont fish many lakes that get a lot of pressure, so the fish aren't "trained" like they can get in the Loops area. I like a little walk before I fish, or I look for lakes that get a lot of pressure from hardware trollers, and then I go out and slay whales while the trollers get skunked.

The Duncan Loop is a different knot. Check it out http://www.killroys.com/knots/duncan.htm. The Duncan will slide closed under enough pressure, the non-slip (as the name implies) won't!

    Default many thanks

Hey people thanks alot for all the great info. Now I understand why people say that a loop is better, so that you are pretty much garantied that your fly will hang straight down. Thanks Rick for the knot, looks staight forward. I will definately be giving it a try next time I'm hanging some chironi's.

Just a quick stupid question, how big it is the finished loop hole, 1/16th of inch, 1/8th inch....just wondering if you leave a big loop hole or as small as possible but still allow the hook to jiggle around in it?
