    Default Roche Lake by tube

I've been up around Roche to fish but never put in to the lake itself because it's so big and I only have a tube. Can anyone tell me if it there are some really decent areas on Roche to fish with a tube without having an hour long kick to get there?

I ask because I'm planning a weekend trip and thought it would be pretty cool to hit that area and some of the neighbouring lakes. I was skunked on Black Lake two years ago and want revenge.

There are a number of good access points to Roche Lake so you can get close to a number of good fishing spots without having to kick to far. From the resort straight out from the dock to the drop off is a good place to start. A short kick will take you to the island as well as a bay which is also productive. If you put in at the campsite acccess, then monster bay is just a short kick which is also very good. Google Roche lake and go to the Sat images. The quality over Roche is very good and will give you an idea of where some of the shoals and drop offs are.

Is monster bay the bay directly across from the camping area? It sure looks like a wide shoal running all the way down to the end of the lake.

yes i believe thats monster bay. I would second tbratt fish the drop off deirectly from the resort dock, also fish the far left side of the island( if your standing on the dock) theres a very nice drop off and weed bed. Or just follow the boats.

The biggest problem is wind - if you wander and the wind comes up against you, you will never make it back.
Roche is big water and produces whitecaps over 12" high.

You can catch fish anywhere you can launch a tube on Roche.
As other said the resort area has a great shoal 40ft from the boat launch, and you can fish between there and the island.
The bay at the provincial campground near the resort is one large shoal that produces lots of fish.
The bay at the other campground is the entrance to the Monster Bay/Carl's flats area and you can fish that whole stretch - nothing is deeper than about 25ft.

If roche is too big try one of the other 8 lakes in the area. Rose or tulip are tiny and there suppose to be decent fishing in them. i have heard that horseshoe can be very good also.

i used my bellyboat last year at roche in october so all the fish were in the shallows feeding on leeches, but i know monster bay is good for cronies and like the others said right infront of the lodge is good

There are fish everywhere in that lake. I fished it in my tube on Saturday and did very well without ever leaving the bay at the north end around the boat launch. I did have an anchor though and I'm glad I did. I would have been pretty tired after 6 or 7 hours of kicking against that wind.
