Default help for a new member.

    Hello fellas....

Just joined after creepin around the site a couple times...couldnt resist. Im originally from Ontario, born and bred to chase Great Lakes steelhead. Currently residing in Alberta for work.

I was hoping that some of you could possibly steer me in the right direction. My parents spent a decent chunk of their lives in Lund BC. I have visited the area a couple times back in college with my dad. 6 years later, im looking to make a move to the region possibly next year. However, I have a contract at work for the summer, and 3 weeks free time to burn before I start. With that being said, I was planning a trip from Edmonton to Powell River early next week.

The object of the trip is to once again visit Powell River and Lund, as well as making frequent stops to sample BC's stillwater fishery. I would really appreciate some help as to where I might be wise to stop and fish. I have some ideas, but no lakes picked out yet. My fiance is going with me, and we are both packing our float tubes. Smaller waters would be ideal, and i have my rod case packed with a collection of 2-6wt rods. I dont mind working for fish, and 12" lake 'bows dont really light my fire.

Kamloops is one of my chosen stops as well as Lillooet, but as for bodies of water, im out to lunch so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated, whether in a reply or pm....

    Thanks alot.
    J.

    Hey J.

Welcome aboard! I am 2.5 hours north of Edmonton and stillwater is what I do almost exclusively. I'll be bumming around some of my favourite Kamloops waters starting Tuesday for a week or more. Let me know if you're going to be in the area then. I also frequent a couple good stillwater destinations between Valleyview and Grande Prairie here in Alberta.

Phearless is another moderator here and can be found hanging out at Powderkeg Outdoors in Merritt, BC an hour from Kamloops and you can reach him at 250-378-9211. There are literally hundreds of lakes in his area and I'm sure you can pick his brain.....if it's not too frazzled!

    Stay in touch.

    John.

    Thanks John,

Looking forward to fishing some BC stillwater. Drove around looking at some dugouts east of edmonton today. Lots of bugs hatchin off, but minimal sign of fish. Didnt even bother to pull the rod out of the case.
