Thumbs up Summer Steelhead Tube Fly swap

Summer Steelhead Tube Fly swap! 1 fly for 1 fly so, if there is twelve people you would tie 12 Tube Flies and when the swap is done you will get 12 different Flies back! The dead line for the swap will be June 1, 2009, so your flies must be in before that date. Once you have decided you want to be part of this fly swap you need to tie your flies and mail them to me, which I will send off a email with all info, including mailing instructions, once everyone has signed up.

Package your flies in a self addressed bubbled envelope. The packages sent, should be in something that can be re used (if the package is to be re used, please include stickers with your address on it to be placed on the reused packaging) to send your flies back or send another bubble envelope with return address and postage attached. If you don't send an envelope with postage attached, make sure you send enough cash in the package so the swap organizer can send the flies back to you in the package it came in. Remember, it's not cool to stiff the swap organizer, so make sure you include enough postage. When all the flies have been received, the swap organizer will split them up, re package them and mail them off to each member. If you have never participated in a fly swap, they are a lot of fun and you get some real cool innovative fishy flies in return!

Remember all steelhead tube flies must include junction tubing and a quality tube hook.

    Here is the list,

I'd love to, but I do not yet tie tubes...just intruders on hook shanks with stingers on spiderwire or dacron backing... but if you dont mind, and if there is time, I can get an HMH kit from my local shop and try it out. (I know SalaR may cringe and try to sell me on a snowbee, which I'm sure is a better setup, but I dont know if there is time to get one ordered, sent up and then have time to tie up a dozen flies)

I could also use some ideas for summer patterns and perhaps some basic instruction on how to rig it up. I'll ask at my shop for a tutorial as well if they have the time.

So you can count me 99% in at this point. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

If there are any requests/colour combo's/patterns worth going with for summers, PM me, or just list them here and I'll find them and tie it up.

    Ok, I'm in!
But I could still use some ideas on patterns to try for summers, especially if I'm headed to the south coast.
I assume that basic dark coloured summer patterns or dark intruder style patterns will be fine.

I just got some icey blue chenille that I want to put on something though I'm guessing that bronze tones and black's would be better?

I'll check some of the other pics we have here to see what others are doing, but just putting out another shout for assistance and ideas of what I should be tying

Ah yes, a key detail. I'm moving at the end of june, so the deadline and mailing details are kinda important to me too.
