Default Lakes South of Dawson Creek

After my two week holiday to the Interior after May Long I'm coming home to rest for a couple days and then taking off for the Peace Region. I have done some research and am still looking for more info on a couple of lakes.
One Island Lake (monster rainbows and brookies, bulls, cutts and pike)
    Boot(Foot)Lake (rainbows and brookies)
    Moose Lake (rainbows)
Sundance Lake (small lake with good rainbows and brookies)

One Island is my preferred destination but is subject to big winds and it's been 10 years since I got a brookie over 5# so they are my main goal. If anyone has any experience on these lakes in regards to hatches, access, accommodations I would sure appreciate it. Thanks much in advance.

.....I have been hearing rumblings about Snag lake west of 100 Mile and big brookies.

As for Dawson Creek lakes- I hope to explore them next spring or this fall but I won't have any first hand reports to share with you for a while.

Great luck and enjoy the road trip- bulls, bows, cutts, brooks and PIKE what a cool mix of fish, one island was already on "the list" but now it has jumped up a few notches!

    Default One Island

Yes, the diverse fishery struck me as strange when I first read it. I figured it must be a large lake with different types of structure and bays but on further investigation found out it's a little more than half the size of Tunkwa. Add to that reports of brookies to 8# and rainbows double that, how can I not go?

Yes, One Island is a cool little lake, but be forewarned, up here in the Peace, it can get quite windy. I've had to leave the water a few times because of high winds and a few times because of thunderstorms.

Lots cabins on the lake, perhaps some are available to rent. The camp ground has a nice boat launch, and lots of places to tent camp or park a trailer.

The fishing can be really hit or miss, but I've yet to put a whole lot of time on the lake. I think that there are lots of different hatches, but I know lots of people troll big plugs and what not for the bigger fish, though I've heard of flyfishers getting 10lb+ trout on chronies and big dragons.

The ice might be off by the May long weekend, or so says my local shop.

Yes, I have been warned about that wind! Appreciate the info! I wonder if Corlanes' would have contacts for private cabins to rent on the lake?!
