    Default Gps

Hi all....i'm wondering if anyone cann give me some advice on a gps. I would like to buy one for the back roads to help find those great fishing lakes in b.c.
Is there such a thing as a dual purpose one, for city maps and fishing lakes?
User friendly and which is the "better" of them all.....thanks .

I don't think there is a dual purpose for roads and trails. I use my dad's which is a Magellan Triton 400. It works great. He had to buy the Western Canada map for 50 bucks but it has every back road and lake on it. It's awesome. It also came with a program for your computer to look at the map and plan out trips. Theres a search so you type in Gump lake and it shows where it is.

I absolutely LOVE my Garmin 60CSx! Color map, highly detailed, etc, etc.

I've only used the Garmin systems for forestry work, but they are really easy to use with forestry maps.

MEC has a few Garmin systems that get really good reviews from backpackers and urban explorers.

I also have a few friends who are into geocaching who love their Garmins, but I really dont have much recreational experience - just forestry stuff where durability and functionality are more of a concern than bells and whistles.

Water proofness and durability would be my #1 concerns. As far as I know most new systems will have the capability to deal with any maps you want to download.

My dad just bought something to clip onto the dogs collar and a gps receiver thing so he can find him if he takes off after a rabbit or shadow .
