The Egg 'N I fly is an alevin pattern.
I will try to find a pic.
Hook - #12 -#8 long shank
Tail - none
Body - silver tinsel
Rib - silver wire
Throat/egg sac - red wool
wing - mallard flank
Classic spring pattern.
Is everybody suposed to tie the same fly?
Yes Xavier.
Everyone ties their own version.
This way we see many variations of the same fly and get good ideas to improve and tweak our own flies.
Works out very well if I do say so myself.![]()
Picture on post 1.
Forgot to add, this is a BC pattern from 1939 developed by Tommy Brayshaw for the opposite of Eve river.![]()

Fred, two more questions, can I participate? and two can the fly be modified or should I stick to the materials specified on the recipe
Yes Xavier please join in.
This is open to all members.
Remember to post your fly here and also in the Fly O' the Month gallery as we randomly pick a particpant to win some flies tied by other members and donated through our fly swaps.
Speaking of fly swaps, we would love to have you join in some of those as well.
Check the first thread in this forum for all the details.
As long as the fly has the basic intent use whatever you like.
This is where the " variation " part comes in.
We look forward to seeing your submission.
OK Fred, I do not have much experience tying this kind of flies, but here I go hope you like it the fly has been Xavierized hehehehehehe
And sure I'll participate in a swap!!
