    Default Tranmer bar

So the Chilliwack Progress says they're starting gravel removal on this bar. They're also going to build a temporary bridge. Is that one of those bridges where they just fill in the river across to the island? I sure hope they don't wreck much.

Anyone know more whats going on because the article says the bar is the size of stanley park but the bar I call Tranmer is much smaller. In the middle of the river there is a much larger bar there so maybe that's the one. Well i'll have to keep a close eye on it.

I am so sick of the gov't 's lame excuse for extraction that they are doing it to stop flooding.
I read somewhere about how mush they have taken out so far will only reduce the water level by no more than 4 inches !
Should these gravel hungry companies be forced to buy rock and such from the new Sea To Sky and get a crusher to make their own? The prov. gov't of the day and 2010 folks seem to have free reign while the environment minister seems to go for coffee.
So many other place to get rocks from but I guess it is cheaper to get some nice pre washed gravel at the expense of the river and fish.

Well I was close to there today looking for cutties. No luck though. They got a huge crane out and a bunch of equipment. They're making a huge bridge across a side channel of the river onto the island across from tranmer bar. They're supposed to be done by March 15.

We never saw any fry swimming around today so I hope they're not killing them all right before they hatch. I'll get some pics next week maybe.

I can't think of any bar on the Vedder that would be anywhere close to the size of Stanley Park. Stanley Park is 400 hectares (1000 acres) in size. That is a piece of land about 4 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide. Sounds to me like the reporting might be suspect.

This dust cloud is a reminder of the gravel mining taking place on Harrison Bar right now.

Professor it's on the Fraser river. If you go to maps.google.ca and plug in n49.227567 w121.727527 that's where they're working.
