    Default Hotels

I am taking a bunch of seminars this week in Kamloops.
    Living in a hotel. Bummer.
The good thing is a good buddy and his wife have taken pity on me and are going to feed me dinners while I am here.
    Thanks G and J.
Probably get some chironi tying in as well.
Back to the OK for a week then here in Kamloops for another week.
Oh the fun of it all!

I live in hotels from time to time. It sucks! But i normally take my tying kit, pick up a six pack and hope there is a hockey game on!

    I used to hate hotels.
Years of living in them in 3 to 8 month stints and the tour buses and vans.
Now it is just a novelty.
I still get that urge to do some renovations in the room.

I always stay in hotels when I'm in region 8. I rather enjoy it actually. I think this spring/summer I'll be doing a bit of camping though. It's been too long.

I remember a few years back we did some serious "renovations" at the Best Western (I think) in Penticton.

I live in hotels anywhere from a week to a month at a time, with the job. I rather enjoy it

We just got back from Richmond; the 4 of us staying in the Best Western kitty corner to the Richmond mall...not recommended right now as they are undergoing renovations.

Whats with fly fishers and 'hotel revonations'? Perhaps its the whole fly tying that lends itself to wanting to create something different out of whats already there....
I don't mind staying in a hotel every once in a while, but really prefer camping.

One thing I wanted to mention about most hotels...the inability to hook up a PS3/Xbox to the TV in the room. Our kids are 12 and 10 years old and sometimes you just want to sit down and play a game or two, but the way they have the TV's hooked up to their "in house entertainment suite" (ie: money-grabbing movie channels), it's impossible to hook up the system.

Their solution? Rent a TV from their A/V department...for, get this....$125/day!!! For 2 days worth of rentals, I could BUY a new LCD TV!!

I spoke to the hotel manager to no avail (after rolling his eyes at me, he's lucky my wife stepped in), but the head office of Best Western received an email today which I'm sure will either be discarded as coming from a lunatic, or rocket straight to someone important and I'll get a free stay sometime

Anyone else bring anti-bacterial sprays, hand sanitizers, etc. when staying in hotels?
Sometimes I get kinda paranoid about germs and stuff. Especially when staying at the cheaper places so sometimes I bring a bottle of febreeze anti-bacterial and usually have some hand sanitizer in the car (works well for getting fish smell off your hands.)

    Always.

We don't really have a "normal" washroom on the plane, so I carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my flight suit or my helmet bag but it dries the hell out of my skin if I use it too much.

If I'm in the room, I just wash my hands with soap.
