We need your help! Massive scale Run-of-River project in Bute inlet
is underway in BC!
Please distribute widely.
Several open houses have been scheduled to inform public about the Bute
Inlet project in Powell River, Sechelt, and Campbell River from January
27 to February 2. As the environmental assessment office states "this
process [environmental assessment] is also needed to ensure that the
issues and concerns of the public, First Nations, interested
stakeholders and government agencies are considered". Because the
project will no doubt have province-wide impacts, it would make sense
that public meetings were also scheduled in Victoria and Vancouver for
easy access to public. We urge you to sign the letter below and fax it
to the EAO office ASAP. Let's flood the office with thousands of
letters. YOU, as a concerned citizen of BC, have the right to be
informed about the fate of our pristine free-flowing creeks, ancient
forests and wildlife.

Subject: Bute Inlet Hydroelectric Project Open House
To: eaoinfo@gov.bc.ca
CC: env.minister@gov.bc.ca
Dear Mrs. Kathy Eichenberger,
I am writing you regarding the proposed Bute Inlet Hydroelectric
Project to express my concern about the planned open houses that will
be held January 27 to February 2, 2009. As the project is of a much
larger scale than the average and will result in a province-wide
impact, it is of the utmost importance and priority that the general
public is well informed and has easy access to the open house
meetings. The locations for open houses scheduled thus far are
inappropriate to the majority of interested public as they are located
in remote locations and require long travel times.
Please consider setting up a public meeting in Vancouver and Victoria
to accommodate the public interest and not leave concerned citizens out
of the process.
Sincerely,
< your name >
