    Default Epoxy

I looked high and low for the Phearless' devcron 2 ton epoxy but couldn't find it. I bought some Armor coat transparent epoxy which will take 6 hours to dry. But thats ok because I followed Prof's instructions and made a fly dryer. It doesn't look as fancy as his but it'll work. What brand of epoxy do you use normally?

Get it at the fly shops.
I have never found it anywhere else.

can't you just use 5 min epoxy? Cheap, Comes in a double syringe. Get it at home hardware. I've always used that on my minnows and it works fine. I usually wait 2 mins after mixing for it to thicken a bit to avoid too much droop. If you time it right it will droop just enough to help form a nice belly.

    The Two Ton never yellows.
    You get better working time.
If I am good I have done 10 flies in a batch.

Oh yeah, I've never had a problem with it yellowing as I usually lose them before it really becomes an issue.

I usually just tie my batch up then epoxy as a group.

If you are using a fly rotator, I would suggest Cold Cure 20 minute epoxy (you can find it a good hardware stores and lumberyards). It has a great pot life, and allows you to do as many flies as you are likely to tie up. The longer the cure time for your epoxy, the harder and more durable it is (and I have found, the less likely to yellow up over time.)

The Plastic shop carries Devcon 2 ton. Don't use anything else!!!
Don't forget to mix it well then mix it some more.

Like Phearless, I use the Devcon 2 ton epoxy, It has a working time of around 30 minutes which will allow you to do around a dozen flies ( if your quick enough and the flies aren't too big). It's also important to be organized and have everything ready to go before you start. A lot of yellowing is caused by using a wooden stir stick to mix the epoxy. I use plastic coffee stir sticks that I grab from a coffee shop and trim one end to a point for application. I know M&Y carries the Devcon, but they sell out at times so call ahead.
