Wow! I'm just watching the news now. Maybe Sundin will be the fire they need, eh? But signed for only a year?

So do you think that this is going to be the magic bullet?
I think it defineatly won't hurt.

"In Montana, there are three things you're never late for: church, work, and fishing." (Maclean)
I always seem to think the Canucks are always 'A day late and a dollar short'.
Sundin may be a decent player but I think he has had his day.

I think it is great for Canux fans of which I am NOT one but anything that gives you hope is a good thing!
In '78 I played Jr.A in Peterborough and being a 17 year old goalie I spent 27 of 30 games on the bench and then I had a motorcycle accident which blew out my knees and ended my hockey career. The point being, I have a fairly good idea of what it takes to get in game shape and I don't really think a 37 year old "PartyPoker Celeb" will be a major contributor for at least a month and even then I have to wonder how deep his heart is into it.
On a related note I have to wonder if his surgery is planned.........................
to remove the Maple Leaf tatoo that he always said is on his heart.
My greatest fear is that this will turn into another Mark Messier fiasco!
Though a great candidate for the Hall of Fame I lost respect for Mr. Sundin when he spent all these months trying to decide if he really wanted to play hockey and then holding out for the best deal!
I think I'll just have to wait and see:cigar:
Now we actually have a reason to watch the Canucks play. Given the fact that he plays off season and Olympic Hockey with the Sedine twins, this should definitely be a boost, you ever watched these 3 cycle the puck around it's like playing Monkey in the middle with a midget. I think this would also be a great time for Luongo to give up the "C" since the only thing I can think it stood for with him this season is "Chump"!
To keep in line with older brothers (Martin) comments....hey it cant hurt them & shucks .....now the two top goal scores on the Nucks will be Ex Leaf players !
In the end as long as we bring the cup to Canada ......thats all that matters.
I think it's exactly what the canucks and us fans need. He's a superstar. The players will learn lots from him, he'll take the defence off the sedins. I think it'll work great.
They paid too much for him.![]()
johnK I think you hit the nail right on the head! I too have to wonder how much effort Sundin is gonna put into this season, even though there is only what, 4 month's left?
I spent too many years watching him say that he will always be a Leaf and Toronto is the greatest city,(puke).
Enough of the negative! To put him on a line with the Sedins would probably be a dream come true for Hank and Danny. I'm sure they grew up following his career.
I think we are just going to have to wait and see. I think I will have to reserve judgment until later.

I think many of us who can remember the passing of the guard when Linden wasn't the captain anymore and we all of a sudden had a softy as team leader. This brought on a few years of"Nice Hockey" that occasionally was exciting but rarely brought us out of our seats. Although Sundin ,another Swede, does have the capacity to bring it up many notches in his play, this should provide for the younger players with a window of understanding, to accept their roles and potential . Leadership is paramount to developement and if all he brings to the table is real leadership then we have a winner.
Vancouver has suffered with unbelievably poor leadership for the past 7 or 8 years. Great teams have great leaders...Detroit,Boston,San Jose,Washington....well the others are just a list in need of inspiration
