Soft hackles are yummy.

One of my favourite flies is a simple soft hackle.
Check out the attached thumbnails.
They work great for cutties, rainbows, kokanee.
Heck, they work great for all trout.
Lake or stream, excellant for both.
I would like to start a swap with a Feb. 15th 2009 deadline.
Size 14 soft hackle.
Your choice of colour and body material.
Cut off for joining in will be Jan. 15th 2009.
All the usual rules apply.
Please don't forget the toe tags.

Mark me down, if you will. I'll jump in on this one too!
Put me in for a spot also. I look forward to your contribution johnk, I still have a couple of yours from the resort.
Thanks Min, should be fun! I have an "untraditional" soft hackle that works great on emerging callibaetis in the shallows.
In '06 I guided at Stoney Lake for a one day stint for "Casting For Recovery" along with 13 other guides and at the pre-fish meeting George from the lodge told us what to fish, where to fish and at what depth. Well after two hours I disregarded what George said and switched from a Hi-D line to floating and put on the soft hackle and let the strong wind do all the work. It took all of five minutes drifting across the shoal and the reel was singing. These awesome ladies had never caught fish on flyrods before, we had that 25inch 'bow to the boat 3 times before the "death grip" finally snapped the tippet. Carol, who I still stay in contact with, started crying, not for losing the fish but for losing my fly! I laughed so hard and then had to explain how many flies I lose in a season and she was okay.
John, I have only recently gotten back into tying. You are probably tying 'non-traditional' on purpose.Mine end up 'non-traditional' no matter what !!
I like that term. Non-traditional. People look at my ties and say, "Hmm, that's sure different !" Now I can just say, "Yes, it's a non-traditional"
Thanks,
Min
