Only thing i'm swinging is a snow shovel! I have not heard anything from the Ched yet this year. Think i'd go for cutties still.

So what is going on down there?
Anyone swinging yet?
I have heard of a few fish showing on the Cheddar.
This cold weather isn't going to help though.

No snow in the east side of the valley. But if you can cast in these 90 km/h winds you'll have the rivers all to yourself.
There's been a few confirmed steelhead being taken, got one report today from yesterday of a nice 10lb buck landed and another bigger lost. Still few and far between but it's started![]()

There have been a few Steelhead taken in most of the regular Island Streams for this time of year...the Summer run fish are getting badly hammered on the Upper Stamp these days with a few winter fish mixed in the tally. It seems that it is all about numbers on that River these days!
The north Island rives are seeing a few fish as well...the Nimpkish had fish coming in several weeks ago..as did the Gold but smaller this year and they seem to be heading for the upper reaches with fair water conditions...will go out later this week (after my shovelling chores are all done)....water is ideal for swing Intruders at the moment

I got out this afternoon on the Chedder. Had to hit mid river to get out of the gail force winds. Hiked through 4 feet of un touched snow until I came to the waters edge. Busted through the ice that ran along the shoreline. I'd rather stand shin deep in water than ontop of the ice. Nice to see a couple of old runs from few years past return.Anyhow it's been way too long since I last set a foot in water. No love for me, but I loved every minute of it.
