rod question

Hey guys...looking for some opinions on a rod package. it is a g loomis roaringriver stinger alta mod#fr1689/10-3. It is a 14' #9/10 3pc unit. It seems nice, it is used but in great shape. From what I can find this particular rod is a good scandinavian unit for dry and intermediate lines...good line speed for over hand casting (surf style) so I don't know if it will work for me. I prefer the skagit and mid belly lines for most of what I do is river fishing with big flies. It would work good as a dry fly unit and the price is right but I would prefer to upgrade from my current loop yellow not go in the other direction. It comes with a TFO 425 reel and a rio multi tip....missing a couple tips but I have lots so I am not too worried. Any feed back on this unit? thanks in advance

I have the 12'6" version and sold the 14' rod(Too close to my Yellow). It is actually quite similar to the Loop Yellow...a bit more crisp but similar. It is a good Skagit /Mid belly rod but not a good Surf Rod at all. That rod will really allow you to feel the load and give you lots of time to manipulate the loop and forward stroke.
A good buy if the price is right and it doesn't sit in the closet!
