Just noticed, I think your in Powell River a little to far of a drive.
Hi Tbar24...since you can't make it to the seminar in Maple Ridge...try to keep in touch with this site...or just ask me for help when you need it. There is no real secret to attaching the hook onto the leader...you might want to put a small bead in front of the hook to keep it from lodging into the plastic tube(if there is one. and if not simply leave it loose.
I do fish over in Powell River occasionally..if you get to the Island look up our shop...

thanks for the tips, ya maple ridge is a little far for me but it sounds great, i tied one tube last night and it turned out decently, the part that didnt work on it was spinning the deer hair for the head, i couldnt get it to go all the way around the tube
thanks for the help

Try two loose wraps around the hair and tighten slowly as you rotate the hair with your free hand.
Should work.
let us know.

They look good...the hooks you use can be straight or up turned eye. Most tiers do use straight eye hooks such as Daichi,Tiemco ,and a few other mostly Japanese hooks. I use Gamakatsu mostly myself...and often position a small bead in front of the hook so it doesn't lock into the plastic tube at the end(if you have that type of tube.
Phearless had a good tip about spinning deer hair on a tube...you can also line the tube with a good wrapping of thread.
HAve fun

Looks Good To Me.
I am a Gami man myself.
Remember, to get a good grip on the tube, secure the rear end in the collette. You will eliminate tube rotation on the pins.
