Good info. What knot do you use?

I find when fishing with commercial tapered that I have a lot of trouble with nasty tangles in the leader. When I fish my own knotted leaders I don't. These two sites are invaluable for designing and tying your own leaders. In one evening I can sit and tie up enough leaders to last one trout season. Always finish each leader with cement on each knot (I use Knot Sence) as it smooths out the knot and allows the mono to glide over knots rather than hanging up.

By the way leadercalc not only gives you 50+ leader formulas (more than you'll ever need) it prints up labels, allows you to design your own leqaders, compares strength and diameter of a wide range of leader material and more.

I use a blood knot. Once you've tied 4 or 5 they become very easy. You can also us a surgeon's knot, but I don't trust them as well as a blood.
