    Default Computer Geeks...

    Help!
My computer is getting slower and slower.
Just did a spybot thing and there were a lot of casino? things and various porn crap in there.
Is there some program to get rid of all this crap?
Does it just come in when you click on a link for something else?

I have AVG free edition right now. Is this enough?

Reinstall windows man, start fresh. I use Kaspersky and have never had problems, i also find Firefox with the "Noscrypt" addon will keep a lot of nasty stuff away.

Being a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (amongst other things, lol), I can honestly say that any version of windows should be re-installed every 6-8 months. It's not a great OS, but the Micro$oft marketing dept has done a stupendous job.

All of the anti-virus software on the market today have their pros & cons; same with the anti-spyware software. My personal favourite for anti-virus is the AVG free version. Updates come automatically almost every week (sometimes every couple of days) and it does what I want it to. My spyware software is SpyBot S&D. Again, it does what I want it to. Another good one is Ad-Aware, which also has a free version.

I should mention that I only run Windows on 1 machine. All of my other computers (2 pc's and 2 laptops) run on Linux...and I've never had to reinstall My wife runs an original iBook laptop and a new iMac which presents it's own connectivity issues, lol.

    Default Computer Geeks

I am not a computer geek of any kind - I use them all day long - But only because I have to - I must admit that the 150 - 200 emails I get everyday used to be a lot of phone calls and a huge Cel bill

Back to computers - I have Skybot , Ad - Aware and AVG free versions

I no longer have many problems at all

If I can do it anyone can

I spent 50 bucks on the Norton antivirus and spyware program. I know the other ones are free but I decided not to mess around with them. I wanted something I knew I could trust. It works great. But you could buy some new fly line if you went with the free stuff. It's up to you.

I paid 50 bucks for the internet security one but it looks like the price went up.

Don't forget that Norton Antivirus is $60.00 or more to upgrade EVERY YEAR.
