    Default Tuffleye

When i first started tying, stick on eyes would fall off even with a coat of cement partly (mostly?) due to bad casting! I then went to epoxy to try and increase durability to compensate for having a casting stroke like a crooked windmill. After a messy time with epoxy, I picked up the tuffleye product Salar was referring to in the eyes thread. I've been using it for about 5 months now.

My opinion- its absolutely great. Expensive at first, but for me, it was worth it. I find it hard to tie many of the same fly in one sitting, coz i've got the attention of a ADD five year old. As a result, epoxy meant i had to wait to collect enough flies to make it worth while to go through the epoxy routine (saga), or i just wouldn't get round to doing it. There is no real problem with putting the nib on the tube and using it for only one or two flies at a time with tuffleye. Once its over eyes, they are not falling off no matter how many rocks you smack.

You can use it anywhere- battery operated and it has a plug connection. I sound like a salesman for this thing- i'm not, just a happy customer! I've been thinking about trying to introduce colour or glitter into the gel before it sets- anyone tried this? I was also thinking about making a holder for the light, so i don't have to hold it when its curing.

There seems a huge range of possibilities for this product, and i'm sure its going to become a part of most people's tying setup.

Yes, it is very slick stuff!! I personally have not used it but was at my Uncle Jims house in Salmon Arm and he was showing me and my Dad this new creation for the Shuswap and he used the Tuffleye, like you would epoxy to cover the eyes. This process took only seconds to complete, fly ready to fish!! Great stuff!
