I may be interested in going - although I don't have a spey rod I am sure one day I will evolve into a spey fisherman.

Maybe someone can show me a few tricks with my single hander.

Just out of curiosity is there a chance of getting into fish on the englishman after the spey demos or will some of the other nearby rivers be better to try?

    Default Fish

There will be plenty of rods there...but more importantly, bring your single hander along....if you let me know ahead of time I will have a special line for you to play with on that rod...provided it is at least a 7 weight rod!
And there are plenty of Chummin there at the moment..there are also Coho and some very impressive Cutthroat Torut about...lets hope teh water levels will be co-operative.

This is late but I am going fishing tomorrow somewhere. If I go up island to Parksville I will stop in. Where about on the Englishman will you be. I am decently familiar with the area so detailed driving instructions are not necessary.

    Default Good conditions today

The river was a bit high today but in general it was great...we had 20 very interested casters out today...watching,playing and seeing the easiness of Spey Casting with fly rods both Single and Two handed. The hit of the day again was the Elixir Switch line on a Single Handed 8wt. rod...the rod was the new Snowbee Prestige 6 pc. 8wt...as heavy as a nice 5 wt. but crisp and sensitive!
Good to see so many smiles

    Were any fish caught?
Was going to attend, but had already made other plans.
    Maybe next time.

Thank you for Jim's suggestion, I was touring the same section of the river on Saturday morning with the camera before my meeting, beautiful section and looks to be a awesome fly fishing spot.

Hope to see some photos soon.
The pool above the bridge has changed since I was there last.
Used to be an island on the east side, so fishing was possible.
Checked it a couple weeks ago and found water was too deep for wading.
Guess the floods dug it out.
Caught lots of trout here all the way upstream for another 200 yards.
When they put a dam on Arrowsmith lake, it was said this river would no longer flood.
    OK! Still floods.

SalaR. Did you hold the casting seminar in the pool below or above the bridge?
One of these days I'll get up to your shop.
    Tight lines.
