Default Fly O' the Month - November

Here we go with round two.
The first contest was so successful I believe we will make this a monthly event.

This month the experienced panel of me has chosen...........

    Bill McMillans Winters Hope.

O.K. it is my wifes favourite fly, but it works perfectly for this.

Remember, this can be any version of the fly.

Original, spey, popsicle, hairwing, tube, intruder.

    Go crazy!

I have caught some very large steelhead on this fly on the Babine and hooked several on the Vedder.

    Let's see them.

post a picture of a Winters Hope please so we have an idea because a google search will give endless versions. Maybe a pic of the original version might be good.

I might actually get in on this one LOL

    Default winter's hope pattern

Hey hook, check out this pattern in the fly patterns section of this site, under steelhead flies I think. It is a very nice tie.
    Later,
    Brian

The original topping was Polar Bear.
That is not readily available in the states now.

i have looked at alot of Cliff's ties and my flies look like dog doodee compared to those things think i might need to get into a fancy fly tying class for some of those really hard classic spey flies cause i would love to be able to tie them at least for the wall

you tie some gorgeous flies Cliff they sure do attract us fisherman :cigar:

good thing i have all November to tie one up (if i do) because i only have half the material (colour wise at least) however i think i might have a variation in mind

what size hook should this be tied on though?? is a 3/0 Daiichi good. LOL
