    Default Eye Protection

This is a buddy of mine.
Notice the lack of eye protection.
Very lucky. The hook never touched his eyeball.

    Ouch !

I had a few close calls and mentioned my misfortune here.
    Some members here mentioned glasses.
The next day I got some polarized glasses.

    I hope he is ok.

Yes it was done while Two Handing it.
I just spoke with him and the eye is doing very well.
    No infection, just itchy.
    Lets be careful out there.

he's a very lucky guy. with the speed a fly goes under a two hander that could have turned out alot worse. Im lucky i have only hit myself in the back a few times and once in the leg. Now with a single hander i have hit myself almost everywhere even hooked myself in the lip once

Lucky fella, that it wasn't worse. I swear by my glasses and I'm partial to very wide brimmed hats... it ain't just great sun protection! I caught a good friend in the lip. Drifting in a 12' pram, both casting heavy sinktips. I've unconsciously tilted the rod tip away from me for MY protection... and the rest is history. He over looked my indiscretion and didn't even make me swim to the take-out. Another good reason to go barbless, when not mandatory.

I jammed a #6 TMC into my shin 2 weeks ago. Staight into the shinbone!! I collapsed instantly but recovered once I pulled the hook out. I thought about leaving it in and walking back to the campsite to show the wife...then realized I couldn't walk, lol.
Fly fishing is not only a method to catch fish, but a state of mind.

He should have left it in - he looks tough, but that fly makes him look like a REAL badass!!!
