    Default Anchor rope storage

I thought that I would share a little idea someone showed me a decade or so ago.

To store the anchor lines in your jon, punt etc.,
Put them in a plastic bucket of the appropiate size.
I use one that had rhodo fertilizer, and the other is costco dishwasher detergent.
With 50' of 1/2" or 75' of 3/8" goldbraid plus my scotty anchor locks left on the rope it fits great.
Oh I forgot to mention the 12-15lb home brewed anchors fit as well.

Just snap the lid on and ready to go.
When in the boat I simply take the lid off and set the bucket on it, pull out the scotties and anchors and we are ready to go in about 3 minutes.:yeah:

An added bonus is that when the anchors are brought aboard they go in the buckets and keep the goo off the floor.

When I get home I open them up, rinse off with the hose, dry them and back in the bucket ready for next time.

Everything is nice and organized. It makes packing a dream as well.

    Hope it works for you.

    Good idea Fred.
I have seen a handful of small boats with damage from the old anchor drop.

In my inflatable zodiac i use the tool bag that came with my ridgid drill along with a 10 pound cleated anchor. I have 100 feet of rope in that one to allow for the angle off the back. For the front of the boat i have a smaller tool bag with a 10lb anchor ball and 50 foot rope as this one will be dropped straight down. When it is time to pack up, the front anchor tool bag fits into the back anchor tool bag and i walk away with one bag in had.
For my pontoon boat i use the battery box from the motor transom for rope,( i cut the lid down the middle and hinged it for easy access), with a scotty anchor cleat mounted to the transom and a 10lb cleated anchor off the back. In front i have a scotty cleat mounted off the side rail with a 5 lb ball. Rope goes into the storage pocket right beside it. When it is time to go, i unclip the front ball, place it in the battery box with the back anchor and rope and carry it out that way.
