    Default Favorite fall steelie flies?

I am sure you have all seen similar postes, but hey, I never get tires of hearing about other peoples favorite flies. Although I have not landed a steelie on the fly yet( well, I haven't landed one ever 'cause I don't gear fish), my favorites that I have confidence in are a purple or black egg suckin' bugger or bunny leeches in sizes #2 to #1/0. I have caught salmon, trout and dollies on these patterns so I hope it is just a matter of time before I land a steely. I have hooked 3 last year on the morice on the buggers but alas, long line release are good for the fish right.LOL.
Look forward to hearing about your patterns.

    Default Classic type

I love Classic style flies for fall fish.
If the water is in decent shape, smaller patterns size 8-2 are great.
For the Bulkley/Morice I have two that are my fave.
Both are my version of other flies and are excellant on dry lines.

The first is called a Madam Caroline,
sort of like a Lady Caroline, just a little trashy:doh:

#2 is called a Bronze Knight,
it is a classic spey style that has my favourite two steely colours.
    Purple and blue.

I will post pics when I get home.

The Orange Heron is one of my favorites for summer, fall, winter or spring. I like to tie them with and without jungle cock eyes and in various colors. Has been a great producer for me but the more you fish with one pattern the more they will catch fish!!

Other great patterns for fall steelhead are GP's, a classic pattern that is a proven winner! Note, thes is not a traditional ties, more of a quicker variations!!

Rick, you tie some awesome flies, simply beautiful. I am really interest in the simplified version of the GP. Could you please post the recipe. And Fred, what is the tie for the Bronze Knight?
    Thanx again fellas,

    Angry Typhoon

Nice tying do you use fire wire for the trailer hook
I am tyying up almost all my steelhead patters with the trailer these days
I seem to get alot less "tugs" that i tell my self are just dollies

I tried Firewire but didn't like it so much.
I only use furled mono leaders now.
17lb test furled makes for a very stiff solution that still allows you to replace the hook if damaged.
