Increasing Size of Upper Stamp River Open Area The recreational angling closure on the upper Stamp River has been reduced in size to provide more opportunity for anglers. The current angling closure is from the Great Central Lake outlet downstream to 1.0km below Robertson Creek hatchery. The new angling closure areas will include the Stamp River (Robertson Creek hatchery) lagoon and that portion of the upper Stamp River from the inlet to the Stamp River (hatchery) lagoon upstream to the Power Line crossing. The river upstream of the hatchery lagoon to the Power Line crossing will only close to angling for a 2 week period from October 01 until October 14 to protect spawning salmon. Both closed areas and times are described below.

Effective 00:01 hours Friday September 19 until 23:59 hours October 31, 2008 the following portion of the upper Stamp River is closed to all angling:- from boundary signs on either side of the Stamp River located at the inlet to the Stamp River (hatchery) lagoon downstream approximately 750 meters to boundary signs on either side of the Stamp River and,

    Notes:

The aggregate daily limit for all species of Pacific Salmon (other than kokanee) from tidal and non-tidal waters combined is four (4).

Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in tidal and non-tidal waters of British Columbia.

Sport anglers are encouraged to participate in the voluntary Salmon Sport Head Recovery program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped Chinook and coho salmon. Recovery of coded-wire tags provides critical information for coast-wide stock assessment. Contact the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program at (866) 483-9994 for further information.
