Default O.K. I'll go first. Lake Boats

    Here we go.
Lets try for pics and descriptions of lake boats.
i.e. prams and tin boats, jon boats.
You get my drift. ( pun intended )
I will have to find a good pic of mine.

    I have a 1980 Smokercraft 1240.
Scotty anchor locks fore and aft.
I built cedar floor boards and have carpets to fit.
The oarlocks need to be raised.
I should probably re-do the board on the transom.
The oars need to be re-finished.
    1979 evinrude 6hp
    electric trolling motor 32lb thrust

I will add to this as I remember.

    Default Mini drifter/Pram

In development is a 9ish ft 46"ish wide pram. Aluminum. There has been a lot of thought about this boat.

The first will probably be riveted.. Comments please. Edo has been building floats for aircraft for years with rivets. Welding is an option.

I will need a supplier for my 8.5' oars

    Homemade anchor pulls.

    Photos to come

    Default Nice

I can't wait to see the pics.
My riveted smoker only has one bad rivet that was sprung by a ..... that's another story.
28 years old and still going strong.
    Welded would be great though.

    Default Jon Boat

    1038 Valco riveted aluminum
    Scotty rod holders/4 mounts
40lb Minkota maxxum/Energizer Deep cycle 180m res. cap.
Steel grooves for wheels but needs the wheel assembly

    Needs
    Anchor locks-to be installed
    Depth/Fishfinder
    Rubber matt/carpet flooring
    Seat

Picked it up in April. Have had it out 6-8times and works great-no leaks. Can fish with two but more comfy with one. Very stable and light.

    Default Needs to be Finished

    I've Lowe 1032 that I will be using for lake fishing. In hind sight it was not the best boat of its type. Things that don't thrill me are;
    - weight is a bit much for one person to lad on roof racks. I have a totem pole thing that I am trying to get set up. Once I get peice of angle drilled so I can pout it on my hitch we will see how well it works.
    - it is a bit shaky for casting from. I don't think I am going to be doing much casting in a standing position.
    - definitely a one man boat. While two can squeeze into it, it is not comfortable.

    To make it fishable so far I have;
    - got wheels so I can roll it around myself
    - mounted a fishfinder transducer on a wood support that clips in to the bracket where the wheels mount
    - mounted a couple of Scotty rod holders
    - picked up a 2.5 four stroke motor for it (probably will need to get an electric also)

I'll be watching for other ideas, such as carpeting. Storage would be nice, but because I turn it over to carry on racks I'm not sure if that will help or if I'll just have a jumbled mess.

I am currently in the process of making a small wooden boat for my my girlfriend to fish out of. It will be 7.5 feet long and 26' wide. I have a pontoon so she wanted to come and see what goes on when I disappear for 4 hours at a time! I will be outfitting it with a 30 lb thrust minn kota. It is really lite and I am hoping to try it this weekend....

    Default Nice Job!

    Looking good there Scoop!
I took a whole wack of boat building, but just don't have anywhere to do one up yet.
let us know how it is for stability for casting out of.
What are you going to finish it with?
Spar or urethane or epoxy or?

I really do love a wood boat.

I would not say it was difficult, but probably a little advanced for the rookie woodworker. I also am a carpenter so I have all the tools to do the job right. With a lot of patience I think most fisherman could build one! I made it out of one sheet of 1/4' fir plywood.(both sides smooth) and a few lengths of clear fir 1x material which I ripped down to whatever size I needed. Lots of glue and clamps also!! If you are really interested google "one sheet skiff" and you will get links to some plans. (I followed them loosely) I can continue to post pics of my progress for those who would like. I hope to have it done by the weekend.

    Matt
