I will join the crew should be fun!!!What is everyone going to tie?

Hi everyone. I am starting another fly swap for winter steelhead. This swap was started on the sister site BC Fishing reports but this has become the official site it will be hosted on and all updates will occurr here.
The original thought was it would be for less experienced tiers to share some basic patterns but anyone is welcome and any winter steelhead fly will be great.
Just a quick introduction to those who have no idea what a fly swap is! A fly swap is a great way for tiers to evolve from there own patterns and see other patterns from members on this forum. It is a very simple process and here is how it works, 1 fly for 1 fly. If there are twelve people in the swap you would tie 12 flies. You send them in to the swap organizer and when the swap is done everyone will have 12 different flies, including one of their own!
Once you have decided you want to be part of the fly swap you need to tie your flies and mail them to swap organizer (myself), who will provide all the mailing instructions. Package your flies in a self addressed bubbled envelope. The packages sent should be in something that can be re used to send your flies back or send another bubble envelope with postage attached. The package used, has to be able to withstand the mail system so the flies don't crushed. If you don't send an envelope with postage attached, make sure you send enough cash in the package so the swap organizer can send the flies back to you in the package it came in. Remember, it's not cool to stiff the swap organizer, so make sure you include enough postage. When all the flies have been received the swap organizer will split them up, re package them and mail them off to each member. If you have never participated in a fly swap, they are allot of fun and get some real cool innovative fishy flies in return! (Copied from Rick Baerg - www.flyfishbc.com)
The cutoff date to join the swap is Sept 30.
The flies should be in my possession by Dec 1st. This gives you two months to tie a maximum of a dozen flies depending on how many people have signed up. I will forward everyone my mailing address after the cut-off date.
Tie whatever you want as long as they are winter steelhead flies.
Currently we have 10 people in the swap. Looking for two more.
1. Vanislealoha
2. Fishey
3. Rick Baerg
4. Hook
5. Young Gun
6. Bead Head
7. Phearless
8. SalaR
9. Newsteelyman
10. Gomphus
Cheers!

I was going to learn a new fly this year and was thinking a spey fly would be good to try.
I found this one. "Purple Haze Spey". A Jimi Hendrix favourite!
More than anything I like the websites description... "Hands down, over the years, this has been the best producing Steelhead Fly I have ever seen" I could really use the best producing fly in my fly box so if I can find the materials that is what I will make.
Any tips on putting those wings on correctly? YouTube here I come.

I hope the link works. it looks like a quite involved fly to tie![]()
Thanks HOOK I did see that earlier. I thought it may not be too bad to tie as I had done most of the techniques on other flies with the exception of the floss tag and the wings. It looks like more of a subtle fly then say intruders so it may be tougher to get it to look good. I will practice a few for myslef to get the hang of it.hey Vanis i found the tying instructions for that fly you wanna tie

Still only have four people and I would like at least 6 so if you know anyone who may be interested please let them know.
i thought Beadhead had joined ? guess he had to bail, thats to bad. I hope we can get at least 6 also. might be hard with another steely fly swap going at the same time though.
I was not sure about Beadhead as he was already in the other steelhead fly swap. I sent him a PM to confirm either or.
We have 5 swappers now as Young Gun has joined in.
Count me in
Thanks
Bead Head
