    Default Nice tie

    Very nice Jim
I will post a pic for this pattern later.

    This is for freshwater cutties.

I don't have a name for it, and don't remember where I first got it.

    Basically a wooly bugger.

    Hook: 2x or 3x long your fave. I like ringeyes # 8,10,12

Bead: Copper is my fave, but all colours will work on different days

Tail: Black ostrich herl 2/3 shank length.

Flash in tail, I like to use red krystal flash or UV or whatever grabs me. It all works sooner or later.

    Body hackle: Red short

Body: peacock herl or peacock plastic type chenille.

I have caught a crap load of cutties in the Harrison and the sloughs on this.

    Default Fred's Bugger Fly

    Hi, Fred.

Just tied up one of your cutthroat buggers and wondered if I could post it?
If not, I'll send it to you in a personal e-mail.
Want to see if it is right.
    Looks really good.

It's like pulling teeth to get some people to share their patterns.:wallbash:
Sharing which river I fish is another matter.

    Default Pretty close

    Very close.
A little more ostrich in the tail.
I like to use a good pinch, probably 10 or so and not pinch the ends to keep the natural taper if possible.
I find the hardest thing is getting red hackle short enough that is not too stiff.

    Default The Bumble Bee

This is a pattern I designed a few years ago for cutties.
Use a size 12- 20 hook. Body is varigated yellow and black fine chenille.
Better body is one turn of black chenille, one turn of yellow chenille,
one turn of black chenille and then a small black hackle.
When I first used this fly several fish on almost every cast would hammer it
    until one got hooked.

Here is a pattern I designed in 1982 and forgot about.
It works well on cutties in the river and at the beach.
    Very simple tie.
The first fly I tried to tie called "The Ding Dong Special".
