I would also take some Roller muddlers, smaller bucktail patterns, needle fish, Coho like small flashy and sparse for the most part.
here is a couple examples of what i use
Roller Muddlers
Coho Blue (variation)
hope that helps

Hi guys, I've got a coho trip coming up in a couple of weeks and was wondering what patterns would you recommend. I will be fishing the Kitimat river no more than 7 miles from the salt. I had planned on using your typical black, blue and purple mariboo or bugger type patterns.
thanx for any help,
Brian

Dingsdale your pic didnt show up. I would really like to see this pattern to extend my arsenal![]()
This fly is called "THE GOLD CORONATION"
Thread: Yellow
Hook: Tiemco #9395 #2-6
Tail: Red Krystal Flash
Body: Can be weighted
Gold Tinsel Chenille
Wing: White, Red and blue hair
I used Super Hair
Add a few strands of Krystal Flash between wing sections.
Use same colors as wing.
Works great for coho and chum.
Another variation done with red, silver and blue Krystal Flash.

Hey Jim very nice.
Why don't you add those to a gallery?
My bad.
I see you have.
Perhaps we can get our Grand Pooh Bah to add them to the Fly Pattern Index as well.
Here is one last fly.
It's called The Coho Clipper
Thread: Black
Hook: Mustad 36890 #1/0-8
Photo fly was tied on a 7/0 hook
Tail: Pink or Red Calftail
Blue Krystal Flash
Body: Silver Tinsel Chenille
Wing: Blue Calftail
Blue Krystal Flash
I tried using the 7/0 size once and had 6 coho chasing it.
Fly was too big and there were a lot of coho in the pool and
didn't want to accidentally snag a fish.
Smaller version works very well.
Have fun with it.
Any of the patterns I have submitted, would like to hear how
they worked for you.
Tight lines.
I just couldn't resist putting this one up.
"The Garland Fly"
Thread: Black
Hook: Mustad #36890 #4/0 or equivalent
Body: Xmas Tree Garland in Gold or Silver Palmered.
These flies are as big as my hand. Wonder if they would work on pike.
Don't have that species here on the island.
Unfortunately, this fly floats. Maybe a big rock tied on the line would help.
It has not been used much.
I carry them to bug fisheries officers when they ask for my licence.
I pull them out and ask them if they think they would catch fish.
Have had a lot of strange looks and weird responses to them. Haha.

Hey, Phearless.
What is your first name?
Don't like calling you by phearless.
