Cool To cut or not to cut.

I have three spey lines, one skagit head only and too short heads with attached running lines and I was wondering if I should cut the running lines off the short heads( a delta and an SA shorthead spey) so that I can change the heads quickly and use only one reel spooled with running line. Has anyone done this and if so, did it work?
    thanx guys,
    Brian

Well, I cut the head from my new delta this morning, looped it and the running line and headed for river today, it seemed to work fine and I was surprised at how easy the transition from the skagit to the short belly delta was. But i suppose it shouldn't have come as a shock as the skagit was 33.5' plus tip for a total of 48.5' and the shortbelly was about 52' with including tip.
The delta is a little lighter than the skagit system so I may have some trouble with t-14 and big flies, but time will tell.
    later..

oh yeah, I broke in the new line with 2 small sqauw fish, i mean northern pike minnows.
