Get a good chair and be sure you can get it close to your vise. Your vise should be positioned over your lap, not out at the end of your knees. Also be sure you have adequate light so you are not leaning in to see your work. These two things should take care of most of your back problems.

where are you tying might be the best question? i used to tie on the living room table but now i picked up a small desk to tie on which has helped so much it rediculous and i wish i had gotten it sooner. now i can sit and tie for a couple hours and still be able to stand up straight after LOL whereas before every ten mins i would have to stretch out my back.

I just tie on my tying table or sometimes on the kitchen table. They're just regular height tables.

Tables and desks of standard height are both 29 or 30 inches. Try leaning back in your chair for 30 seconds or so after completing each fly. I can't stress tho' how much difference a good office-style chair will make. They are pricey for a good one, but worth the bucks if you value your back.

I still have to use the kitchen table but after sports related back surgeries I sit up right , try not to extend to far (posture posture posture). I agree that a GOOD chair is very important. Wear my Tens machine on ocassion ( real Dr Ho )

    Default I concur!

Yes you must get an office chair.
As the other guys said well worth the investment for comfort.
