    Default Sumallo Grove

    Just a heads up all.
Watch your vehicle and contents at Sumallo Grove.

    Friends

I have just received this note from a fellow member, Jim White, of the
Loons FFC. For thos of you in the lower mainland, his comments and
    warning will be of interest.

    Quote: Hi Guys,
I was fishing the upper Skagit yesterday (Friday) and returned to
the Sumallo parking lot to find one of the car doors open and the window
smashed. Interestingly, the thief took the camera I had dropped in the
water last week but left rods and reels. They had probably been
surprised by a car coming into the parking lot.
When filing the report at the RCMP in Hope the constable requested
that I get the word out to other fishers. . There was another vehicle
there at he same time that had more extensive damage and loss. They
suspect a green van so be on the look out if you pull in and its parked
there. The culprits also hit cars parked along #3.
Could you please get this warning out to other clubs and any bulletin
boards. The officer seemed to think this might be a continuing problem
for the remainder of the summer.
    Cheers Jim - Unquote

I hate worrying about my property while fishing.
We are going to have to watch out for each other.

It is pathetic that we have to worry about our car when fishing or any activity for that matter.
I had 2 hit and runs on my car in my drive way over the last 6 months !
One was the recycling truck and he took of after making eye contact
    with my neighbor.

I want to hit up the Skagit this summer/fall so I guess its time to buy a smash up derby car.

I love fishing that area- its so beautiful. Its terrible that in such an amazing place we have to worry about F@*KING jackasses doing stuff like this. I end out carrying just about everything in my car, i leave rod cases at home, and if i have to take a rod case i leave it so that its opened and clearly visible through the window that no rod is inside.

On a lighter note- we got back from houseboating on Shuswap lake on sunday to find a truck had been left in neutral, rolled down a hill and totalled our car! Luckily my buddy, the driver works for a rental company and the car was a rental, so they cover it. Of all the wierd stuff! The driver laughed, so we did too.

Fred, have you posted this at the sister site? I think it might be of interest there as well.

It sucks that guys loose gear doing something they love so much. I'm always worried about parking my vehicle when fishing. I see cars parked along Hwy 28, fishing the Campbell River and I wonder how many times they are broken into a year. I can thank my lucky stars (knock on wood) that we've never had an incident.

It is after Hope about 35 kilometres on Highway 3. Fish downstream from the parking lot.
