    Default Old flies from Scotland

My dad arrived here on holiday on Wednesday. Last night he produced a fly box, one of several that we was given, along with tying materials, reels, rods, from a good family friend. These date back probably in the 60-100 year range, but we couldn't narrow it down further. They belonged to the father of a man now in his mid 80s.

I couldn't believe the flies- the are absolute beauties! both trout and salmon flies. Even the box is a gem.

Take a look, and see what you think!

When i have more time, i'll post some better macro pics of them.

    Default Very nice

    Hey flyfishforfun.
    Very nice score.
I believe that is a Wheatley fly box.
    Beauty flies as well.
I would like to see the reels.

    Hey phearless,

The reels are in Scotland. I'm going home for Christmas, so i'll look into it then and get back to you. If we have another fish-out from a steelhead swap, maybe i'll bring some gems along! There are several other fly boxes. My dad described one of the boxes containing dark flies on huge hooks. I wonder if they might be traditional flies like speys? Will wait and see!
