Hi Everyone This is a note to inform you of the latest video posting. The Fraser River is possibly the largest salmon producing river in theworld. Most of the juvenile sockeye which leave this river migrate north upthe coast through the inside of Vancouver Island. In doing so they pass bymany industrial salmon farms which are breeding grounds for sea lice, whichare known to be lethal to juvenile wild salmon. In this episode we visitwith a research project underway in the Discovery Islands off of CampbellRiver where a small crew is sampling the juvenile sockeye salmon along theirout-migration to sea. The sampling crew is finding alarming levels of liceon these juvenile sockeye, which represent Canada's most important run ofsalmon.
