So you didn't make it there then? Is there a different way?

BOy am I glad no one decided to fish pool with me. I've been told about this Rampart Lake by a few people, one of them being a friend of mine. When you look at the map, there is one obvious way to get to the lake. Fallow the Rampart creek road straight to the lake. Well, as I found out, this is not the case. I discovered that Rampart creek road is deactivated. So I spent several hours trying to find a way in to that lake. I drove up quad trails, through creeks, through clear cuts, up this way, down that way, you name it, I did it. I even managed to tear half of a fender flare off my truck. I even got "directions" half way through the evening from a friend of mine, so I followed them. They were inaccurate.
Lesson learned. Maybe print off air photos from google earth of the entire area you plan on going to. It will give you a better idea of the topography, landmarks, and other points of referrence which, before your trip might seem unimportant, but at midnight and with a quarter tank of gas, become VERY important.

There is a way into the Lake, but, I just couldn't find it. I was close to the lake. I've looked up the area on google earth, and knew I was probably within a few km's of the lake. It's like a maze. Turn off on a road, it splits, then they split etc. I'll try again one day.

Hrad north out of Princeton to the old Hedley Rd. Turn right onto it, then almost immediately left onto the Princeton Summerland Rd. Continue northeast until you reach Hembrie Mountain Rd. and turn left. Stay on this road past a bunch of ranches. Shortly after the last ranch gate there is a fork in the rd and you should bear left until you come to the rampart lake rd (it was fairly obvious if I remember from last summer.) This should take you right to the lake. Ask in town and they can clear up anything I have been vague about.
