    Default Bowron Lake Canoe Trip

I leave at the end of June for an 8 day canoe trip around the Bowron lake chain. Has anyone here done the trip and if so how was the fishing? From pictures some of the lakes look large and sterile while others look shallow and very buggy.

    Thanks
    Doug

Ok for those researching their own trip I will answer my own question. First few lakes (Kibee and Indianpoint) good fishing for 14-16 inch Rainbows. Isaac Lake very large and sterile. I heard fishing near the creek mouths was good but I never caught anything in 3 days. Isaac River had lots of Dollies. After the Cariboo River joins the Isaac everything is silty including the next 2 lakes (Lanezi and Sandy). No fish caught in Rum lake and only saw a few small rises. All the lakes till the end of the trip looked good with fish rising but I never had time to pull out the rod again. Sometimes fishing is the last thing you want to do after 4 hours of paddling and portaging.

But mostly it is the first thing I would want to do after 4 hours of paddling and portaging.
Sort of like the carrot in front of the horse.

I have done the Bowron circuit many times...all the lakes hold fish and produce but local information is a must in some areas.

Issac has some very large fish and is anything but sterile....The Locals hold Issac in VERY high regard and fish for Kamloops trout when they are there. I have caught Dollies, Lakers and Rainbows in Issac on several occasions. Wolverine creek area is fantastic.

Bowron is fantastic for trolling close to the shore.

i did the chain with my family about 13 years ago when i was 6 or 7 years old. we used Mepps spinners and hooked a bunch of small trout in the 10" range. we had no idea what we were doing back then though.
