It's not a possible violation...it IS a violation.

While reading the regulations the other day, I came across a possible violation. If you are fishing a water that is "Fly Fishing Only" (as opposed to "artificial fly only") you are NOT allowed to attach anything to the line, including floats. A strike indicator not only acts like a float, it is a float. What is everyone's take on this?

Rookie is right. Split shot, strike indicator, scent , anything, other than a fly is a violation in flyfish only waters.

Thank you for clearing that up fellas! I had no idea that using split-shot, a float or a strike indicator is considered part of your "presentation" when flyfishing in a fly-only classified water...thanks for the heads up! Cheers! -Nathan in NW
Sippin' suds...sippin' scuds...
Thechnically, that is a violation...
There's nothing sexier than a hook dressed in fur and feathers.
What if you use a dropper setup so your "indicator" is another fly? Just curious.
I've gotta have more cowbell, baby.
Most, if not all streams in BC are single barbless hooks.
Droppers are not legal.
According to 2006-2007 freshwater fishing regulation synopsis - Provincial regulations (page 9) "It is unlawful to angle with a fishing line to which more than one artificial fly is attached (i.e., use"dropper flies").

What about tying an indicator into the fly, say if your fishing an emerger, and you want to see whats going on about 6inches below the surface? My guess is that it's part of the fly. Whats the rule book say about that?
One time I drank a glass of white paint thinking it was milk... Yummy!
