Default Streams of days gone by.

    Hey,

My grandpa passed away a couple weeks ago and I never did go fishing with him but I remember a fish conversation we had.
He told me that he grew up in east Vancouver close to downtown (WW1 era) and fished streams in Vancouver and area.
These streams in Vancouver he fished have been covered over throughout the years.
He also told me that he remembers the Nicomekl River,Serpentine River, Little Campbell River full of fish.
Since reflecting on this conversation and being a new dad there seems to be a spark that ignited a conservation/enviromental awareness in me and the need to do something big or small.

    Happy Fishing

    Default generations

i think as parents , the biggest thing we can do is teach our children to have a sense of pride in our fisheries ,and to teach them that they are ours to protect and conserve for future generations . i think that i to will one day be telling stories of steelhead and cutthroat that used to be....but i hope that the generations then will still have the opportunity's in our fisheries that we still have today. if you look at what has happened in the last 20 years...well......i hope we can make change.
sorry to hear of your grandfathers passing . i was sitting here thinking of what it must have been like then...he was a lucky man to have fished then.
they will one day say the same as us im sure.

    Hi

    Thanks Patches.
I could only imagine seeing schools of fish running through our streams.
Instead I stumbled over a used tire and saw a big gulp cup float by.
Times have to change for the better and mother nature can't do it by herself.
