    Default bc speys and patches

today i am going out with cliff to go and hit some rainbows in a canon hole . we should be able to fish the major part of the pool with the spey rods. its a large bowl with towering 50 foot cliffs all around except the out flow . we have to climb down a rope to get in . the pool is about 250 feet across and is very much like still waters.i hope cliffs knowledge of cronies may get us into some of the large rainbows stuck in the hole .i can always hit a few on leaches and dry flys but it will be nice to fish a new selection of flies . cliff brought a rubbermaid of boxes of flies, so today should be fun just trying them all.its cliffs birth day today, so i hope he catches a big fish and has a killer birth day !

ill tell yall how it went later, ya hear.

Now that sounds like some fun! I would love to see some pics of the area, sounds like a really neat pool. Good luck.

We never made it to the canon hole. Instead we fished Lang Creek just above the highway. I briefly had one little one on but it spit the hook after a short tussle. We got checked by a provincial c/o and all was well. I even had to give the guy a jump start 'cause his battery was hooped. Patches and I chatted with him for quite a while, he was a real nice guy. The water was way up according to Patches so we headed up to a secret spot of Patches'. We saw one big doe cruising, but she wasn't interested in anything we offered her. My hat goes off to Patches as he tried very hard to get me into fish. Thanks a million bud! I had a great birthday.
We went back to Patches' place where he went through my rubbermaid tote full of containers of flies. Lots and lots of flies. Steelhead flies, cutthroat flies, dry flies, speys and dees, chronies and more. He had a lot of fun picking out flies for himself and a few friends of his. As I was about to leave, Paul from PROA showed up and we talked for a bit but I had to leave because Lindsey was cooking me a birthday dinner back at the cabin.
If you get up to Powell River area, look Patches up. He is an excellent host and will work very hard to get you into fish. I can't wait 'til October when I am probably going back up again.

    Cliff.
